We found out from COUNTRYSIDE MAGAZINE that CARLA EMERY passed away last November, 2005.I lost a wonderful friend. Carla was a christian. We went to three of her workshops. Carla was concerned that someday homesteaders would have to feed the world. I believe that as events are happening in the world, we had better learn some skills.
John and I use her book for everything. We use it all year to make decisions for our garden. We garden 4 to 5 months a year but we study all year. John has a degree in horticulture. He is the decision maker for our garden. He has trained me well. I use the recipes in the book all year. However, in the summer, I can, dry, pickle, bake, freeze, make soup and casseroles. I also preserve vegetables in the refrigerator in the growing season.
We have improved our skills after homesteading for 10 years but we still, need Carla's information. My goal now, is to keep selling and promoting her book.
